“ Adrian Alegria Feat Samuel Fitch – No Bars “

ENGLISH:

Hi Adrian, is a pleasure to have you on DHSP for the first time:

1. For those who have just discovered you or aren’t aware of your music yet – tell us how you are and how you got started in music

First of all thank you for having me, it’s a pleasure to share a few words with you. The truth is that I am a person who has been linked to music since I was very young. My parents instilled in me that passion, that’s why I started studying music and classical piano at a very young age. It was a few years later when I discovered and got into electronic music completely.

2. Do you remember how your beginnings in the industry have been?

I took my first steps in several clubs in my city, Pamplona. I remember that at that time there was a great clubbing scene and it didn’t take me long to go out and play in important clubs in the north of Spain. I was also lucky enough to be a resident in clubs like Txitxarro or Itzela, thanks to which I was able to gain a lot of experience.

As for production, since I was a child I made my own little compositions and as soon as I began to understand the Daw, I was totally enthusiastic about the possibilities they offered me, so it didn’t take me long to finish my first demos.

It has been after many years of work that I have been able to undertake more ambitious projects as Xarma. It hasn’t been a bed of roses but I wouldn’t change it for anything.

3. What are your musical influences? And your favorite artists of the moment?

One of the things that characterizes me the most is the great variety of genres that have influenced me during my life. As I said before, I come from classical piano studies, but my tastes range from soul, funk, jazz, blues to reggae, or world music.

One of my favorite artists at the moment is, without a doubt, Yamil. He is in an incredible state of creativity and has a great future ahead of him. I also follow very closely artists like Rapossa, Kermesse or Cioz or national artists like G. Zamora or Nommad. I always try to be aware of new artists and releases.

4. With this pandemic situation and club closures, how are you spending your time?

It’s true that we have suffered a lot this last year. We were forced to stop our activities and reinvent ourselves. In my case, I spent my time preparing the recent launch of my label Xarma Music and a large part of the catalog that will be coming out in the following months. The truth is that I have left the studio very little 🙂

5. How is your routine in a normal work day?

I usually wake up early and use the first hours of the day to read and answer emails, listen to promos, and above all move forward with the different aspects of the label such as designs, masters, distributors and so on. Sometimes it seems like the list never ends (laughs).

The rest of the time I spend in the studio moving forward with new projects or training and updating myself in production aspects.

6. You have just released a new EP called ‘Perfect Love’ under your own brand new label Xarma Music. How was the creative process and what does this EP mean to you?

The truth is that seeing this first reference on vinyl under my own label is a dream come true, and that two of my favorite artists like Yamil and Mihai Popoviciu have trusted in the project and remixed “Perfect Love” has been something wonderful.

The creative process was simple, everything works when you are supported and motivated. Without a doubt it was a great choice to count on them and to be able to complete the release. For me it is a step forward in my career and the beginning of a new stage that I face with great motivation and determination.

7. How do you like the artists to present you demos or promos?

I like the treatment to be as personal as possible, although sometimes it seems that this is what is missing in these things.  Without a doubt the most important thing is that they contact you because they really fit your sound.

We are looking for electronic music with a defined and immersive sound of its own. You can listen to the catalog to get a more concrete idea.

8. What can you tell us about your future projects? Do we have to be aware of anything important?

In May XM002 arrives. “Adrian Alegria Feat Samuel Fitch – No Bars “

A collaboration with the american singer Samuel Fitch that will surely leave no one indifferent. And the next months I bring fresher sounds for the summer season. I’m really looking forward to the release of all the projects I’ve been working on.

9. Finally, anything you’ve learned from the music industry over the years?

Without a doubt the whole journey has been a continuous learning process. In fact that’s my intention, not to stop learning, and that could be the advice I would give to those who are starting out.

Thank you very much again for the interview to the DHSP team.
